This is a page that celebrates the musical creativity of members of the Utah Pagan Community. Instrumentalists include players on the mountain and hammered dulcimer, harpers, tinwhistle and flute players, guitarists and those who play bowed psaltery and autoharp, as well as singers and several wonderful belly dancers. This is to say nothing of our amazing drummers, led by Windwood. Come join us at AspenGrove Mabonfest and at SunStave Sabbat rites to enjoy and learn this music. Below you will find lyrics to chants and songs we use often. Some here are very old chants commonly found in the international Pagan community. Others are local adaptations of old chants, and filks of songs. Then there are many wonderful songs and chants that have been composed locally ( all have been correctly attributed unless the author wishes to remain anonymous.) All chants are to be used and shared freely as you desire. Please Note: We have a community song circle which meets monthly, where these and other songs and chants are practiced and shared. Pagan Pipes is sponsored by the CUUPs Chapter at South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society. Please feel free to attend and join us. The Pagan Pipes Song Circle meets the second Tuesday of every month. More information on CUUPS is here. More information on public Pagan activites in the Salt Lake community is here. |

LONG WALK TO AVALON It’s a long, long walk to Avalon
Tell me where can the unicorn lay his head?
Tell me, how many times can the sun set
down
Comes a dying god on a bloody cross
First the winter’s snows lay nature to bed
It’s a long, long walk to Avalon

We all come from the Horned One
LISTEN LADY LISTEN Listen Lady Listen to my heart's song
BE LIKE A BIRD Who halting in her flight
HERETIC HEART
I am a bold and a Pagan soul
My mother was a spinner of tales,
Once I was bound but now I'm gone away
They tell me Jesus loves me,
And while I breathe this glorious air,
(from previous column) The sun is in the southland
The Sun is in the southland
They danced in the darkness
I gaze on the Heavens and I gaze on
the Earth
I dance in the stars as they whirl throughout
space
The moon in her phases, and the tides of
the sea
